Call for Entries

The Boston Jewish Film Festival (BJFF) accepts entries for its annual November Festival from mid-February though mid-May. The popular and critically acclaimed BJFF presents the best contemporary films from around the world on Jewish themes.

Eligibility
BJFF screens films and videos that highlight the Jewish experience; explore Jewish culture/heritage/history; or are of particular interest to the Jewish community. BJFF presents narrative, documentary, animated and experimental works of any length.

Entries must meet these guidelines:

  • Must be a Massachusetts premiere (no prior screenings or TV broadcasts)
  • Completion date is within the past two years
  • Available for presentation in 35mm, Beta SP, NTSC or DVD
  • No works in progress
  • No resubmissions

Submission deadlines and fees
The early deadline is postmarked May 1 with a $15.00 entry fee.
The late deadline is postmarked May 22 with a $25.00 entry fee.
THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE FOR INTERNATIONAL ENTRIES.

Film selections are announced in mid-September for the November Festival.
Notifications are sent via email for all entries at that time. No phone-calls please!

Entries must include
  • Preview screener of entry, preferably 1/2” VHS tape (NTSC, PAL or SECAM) or NTSC Region One DVD. * Films that are not in English must have English subtitles, or be dubbed in English.
  • Completed entry form with applicable entry fee (available Feb - May).
  • Brief description or synopsis of film, 50 word maximum.
  • Screening and broadcast history. Include honors and awards.
  • Biographical information and filmography of director and other key personnel.
  • At least one film still.
  • Press materials (if available).
Documents can be submitted electronically.
Text files are accepted in the following formats:
  • Microsoft Word
  • RTF
  • PDF
  • Plain Ascii Text
Digital film stills are accepted in either TIFF or JPEG format at 300 dpi or higher.
Files can be submitted via Email (files over 2 MB cannot be emailed); sent on CD-Rom; or presented online in downloadable form.

Please note that the preview screener will not be returned unless a self-addressed, stamped mailer is included with the submission.

Use bubble wrap mailers or boxes when mailing submissions. Do not send submissions in fiber-filled envelopes. The dust from the paper fiber damages tapes and players. Screeners shipped in fiber-filled mailers will not be viewed.
