Programming Intern
The Boston Jewish Film Festival, a non-profit, year-round film-presenting organization with a large annual Fall Festival, seeks an intern in our programming department. This position will support the film-search process through research, data entry, correspondence, management and review of tape submissions. Typical projects include sourcing films through internet, catalog, and other research; soliciting films from filmmakers, producers and distributors; maintaining computer database, hard copy files, and tape library; pre-screening films and preparing reports and screening notes for Artistic Director.
Position requires attention to detail, strong computer skills (database experience a plus) and communication skills, interest in film, programming, and/or arts administration. Two days per week, 10-14 hours per week. Car helpful, as West Newton office is not easily accessible via subway. Unpaid, with an option for school credit if desired. Administration/Marketing Outreach Intern
The Boston Jewish Film Festival, a non-profit, year-round film-presenting organization with a large annual Fall Festival, seeks an administrative and marketing intern. This position will assist the organization with year-round events (film screenings) planning and promotion, as well as provide office support. Primary tasks include: Make and send film dubs to press; publicize events online through BJFF and other websites; update press and group databases and develop contacts; maintain Festival yearround press binder; research/update print sources and consumer video availability for Festival web and database archive; update organization's contact database; assist with promotional and development mailings; assist with organizing events and screenings; other duties as assigned.
Offers an opportunity to learn about arts administration, marketing, and programming. Good introduction to the film festival industry. Two days per week, 10-14 hours per week. Programming Assistant
The Programming Assistant position will support the festival curation process through research, data entry, correspondence, management and review of tape and DVD submissions. Good opportunity for a motivated self-starter interested in learning about festival programming and gaining exposure to the film industry. Works under the direction of the Artistic Director, and supervision of the Festival Producer. Position is part time, at 20 hours per week most of Festival year, but may increase to 40 hours per week to meet peak demands in November, prior to and during Festival screenings.
- Maintain computer database and hard copy files to keep track of all films being considered for programming
- Oversee updates to web-based film database
- Maintain library of screening tapes and DVDs
- Issue weekly film status reports
- Attend weekly programming and staff meetings
- Process, track and return screening cassettes to filmmakers and distributors
- Source films through internet, catalog and other research
- Solicit films by corresponding with filmmakers, producers, and distributors
- Maintain database of film festival websites and contact information
- Send out screening tapes to press and other Festival partners as required
- Pre-screen films and write screening notes for Artistic Director

Internships are an excellent opportunity to learn about the film festival world, to experience film exhibition and promotion first hand, and to get involved in the Boston film scene.
College credit is available. Positions are unpaid.
Requirements
Ability to commit 2 days (14 hours) a week
Organization, strong computer skills and solid verbal and written communication skills
